I am the man of La Mancha by ~Aneirin-Aryon:iconAneirin-Aryon:

I am the man of La Mancha
Searching for wrongs to right
And giants to slay.

I may be the last
And many years may pass
But to the knightly code I must hold fast.

I a knight-errant.
My quest ne’er ending
My faith ne’er wavering.

Searching for wrongs to right
And giants to slay
I am the man of La Mancha.

I've always been a fan of Miguel Cervantes. This poem is a reflection of my admiration for Mr. Don Quixote. Quixote is mad perhaps, but he is also pure and innocent. His motives are hounorable. To me, he is to Cervantes, the embodiment of the sad death of Chivalry, the code of the knights, would die with them as the knights became obsolete.

It's part mockery, part mounful dirge. The passing of Don Quixote means the end of honor. Albeit he see's giants in windmills, he is at heart a knight.

At times, it's honourable to hold onto a Quixotic dream, rather than abandon it for reason. What is at first considered madness, can result in something great, something new. Do inventions come from bold thinkers? Or orthodoxy?

Quijote (that's how we spell his name in Spanish xD well at least mexican spanish) and I haven't read the entire book but I went to see a play about it. AWESOME! XDDD

Cervantes was the Spanish Shakespeare. Seriously. They both lived during the same time and died at the same day. (I think I don't remember...I used to love my lit class)

Quijote? Lol. Us silly anglo peoples gotta anglo-size everything lol. I blame the Brits. Brits re-name everything... XD But that's cool!

I love Cervantes! I haven't read the whole story either but I know it well enough. Have you ever seen the musica "Man of La Mancha?" Lol. I like it, kinda silly though. :D

He's a real tragic character in a kind of way. But I love how in his blindness to reality he see's something special in Dulcinea. His world's really better. His friend never should have revealed the truth to him, it ruined him. :o

I suppose that's one of the points though.

Cervantes was a good writer. :D Interesting that he and Shakesphere have so much in common. ^_^ I think you're right. I may have heard that before. :D

Aww yeah that part was so sweet. Dulcinea was really a good person after all.

Ha ha ha. :D Yeah there's a musical. It's uh, full of music you know... XD

It's very melodramatic actually... XD

Yeah! ^_^ That's why Don Quijote is amazing. ^_^
